E-Verify Should Be Part Of Stimulus
It's unconceivable to me that Reid and Pelosi were able to strip the e-verify mandate from the stimulus bill. This, despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of congressman voted for the provision. So the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services spends millions of dollars developing a program that allows employers to verify legal working status, and with the stroke of a pen two people, Pelosi and Reid, decide that the program need not be utilized as part of the stimulus.
Evidently, it's too much to ask that the almost trillion dollar stimulus bill that our children and grandchildren will end up paying for be used to fund employment only for legal American citizens.
This catastrophe of a bill is creating jobs at a cost of $250,000 to $500,000 each, and there's now no protection to prevent those jobs from going to those here illegally. This, at a time when 10 million Americans are out of work. People in the our state are losing their jobs every day, and it's a travesty of justice that they have to compete for jobs with people who here illegally.
The things that are occurring in the back rooms of Washington today certainly lead me to believe that the new era of politics is not going to be one of transparency and sound ethics.
It's never stunk so bad.
And while the adoring mainstream media refuses to cover the seedy details of this bill, the details are coming out. They are coming out via the new media - emails, blogs and the internet, and a core group of patriotic, concerned talk radio hosts. And as the truth comes out, Obama's poll numbers will continue to slide and it will be revealed to the American people just how bad things really are in Washington these days.
