Baltimore Sun Again Masquerades Opinion As FactThe journalistic fiasco titled “It's all about me: Questions about Obama's health care reform plan” is really a ridiculous attempt to not report on the real issues of the health care debate. Instead, in typical Sun fashion it’s a rehash of the DNC’s talking points. I have a few questions that weren’t covered. 1) The Sun, like Obama, proclaims that we can all keep our existing insurance if we choose. But won’t we also be paying for the new government plan at the same time? Does the Sun have enough journalistic integrity left to admit that business taxes and taxes on small businesses are eventually passed down to the consumer? 2) Like Obama, the Sun continues to tout the “staggering” figure of 46 million uninsured. Doesn’t this number include illegal immigrants? Will Obamacare cover illegal immigrants, or should the Sun be using a different (lower) number? 3) We don’t need socialized medicine to address the “100 billion dollars of wasteful (Medicare) spending” Obama claims to have identified. Why can’t we address this right now without the gargantuan bill that it’s tied to? 4) Since much of our inflated costs are due to the large number of unnecessary tests being given to patients, which itself is tied to our horrible tort system, how come tort reform is not included in the bill? Could it be because the Trial Lawyers Association is perennially one of the largest contributors to the DNC? Editor - bethesite.com
