A Different Standard of ProtestWhat I find disgraceful is not the conduct of the town hall protesters, but the fact that there appears to be a different set of standards for liberal protesters and for the current crop of health reform protesters. First off, you'd have to be a few French fries short of a happy meal to believe that these are actually orchestrated Republican events. Unlike the presence of Obama's ACORN and union thugs, those speaking out against Obamacare appear to generally come from a cross section of the community. It simply defies reason to assume that the sea of white hair we witness filling these town halls are all bussed in by the RNC. Secondly, why is it that when leftists protest it's considered Patriotic by the media, but the current protesters are called every name in the book by both the Sun's editorial and opinion writers, and also the leftist's responders? In the last few days, the protesters have been called bigots, disgraceful, and un-American, Apparently they are also being paid off by Republicans. One Baltimore County councilman, Vincent J. Gardina, claims to have even recognized many in the crowd as Republican party members. I don't think that's true. I think Vincent J. Gardina is a liar (and yes, if he can call people un-American, then I too can call it like I see it). I'm completely confident that these are folks generally concerned about the impending reforms. Bush was called every mean, nasty name in the book whenever leftists gathered to protest the Iraq war. The pictorials and signs that appeared at some of these rallies were disgusting. Let's not have a different standard for those folks who are genuinely concerned about how Obamacare will affect their lives. I haven't yet attended any health reform protests, but seeing how the Democrats are reverting to their usual tactic of trying to snuff out open debate is enough to make me want to attend the next one. I've copied Gardina so he knows my feelings regarding his unpatriotic and un-American attempts to snuff out debate and relegate our senior citizens to second class citizens. Editor - bethesite.com
