Ode to the Obama Economy
Down and Down and Down it goes, where the Dow stops nobody knows.
9000, 8000, 7000 six, the end must be near, (but it probably isn't),
Perhaps we should buy, we've must hit the floor, but who can afford to lose any more?
And what will the president say next time around? That the market has floored, or the economy's sound?
Bill Clinton has told him to not be so dreary, but it's not his pessimism that's scaring the weary
It's the fact that he misread the desire for change, as a condemnation of what made this nation great
It wasn't a call to repeal school choice, to reject capitalism, or deny workers a voice
To provide universal health care to a border nation, to send money to Hamas when we can't pay Constellation,
To allow the big union bosses to do, to the auto plants in Tennessee what they did in Kalamazoo
To shut down talk radio (or give Rush a promotion,) to own the print press (is a bailout in motion)?
It wasn't a call for wasteful government spending that nobody with any sense will invest in.
And the spending! Oh the spending! Unfathomable Spending! Billions for unions, ACORN, and friends,
Billions more for the failed and the failing, billions and billions to come from the ailing
High taxes will ensure that businesses won't succeed, especially when failures get a bailout (or three)
Your grandkids will pay for our debt (as will mine), we're spending their money and pretending it's fine
With a tax cheat in charge, the tax man he cometh, how much more can he take? If we hide will he find us?
So is the worst now behind us, or is more trouble brewing? Is it time to invest, do I know what I'm doing?
(Not like Obama, who sold us P/E's, before suddenly revealing he didn't know what it means.)
I think that I'll hold, I'll call, I won't bid, I've lost all my faith, that the folks with the lid,
Can get it back on the pot, before the whole thing explodes,
They haven't a clue what they're doing, as the market now knows
