Obama's Judgment

Now that the videos have been obtained and released by ABC and Fox News, we know that Obama's pastor and spiritual advisor of 20 years hates America and feels compelled to use obscene language and gestures to get his points of hatred across to his hypnotized congregation. Rev. Wright’s questionable views on race relations and close relationship with racist Louis Farrakhan suggest problems in this area as well. This is the same pastor who baptized Obama's children and married him to his wife. This is Obama’s spiritual advisor, and a man who was officially part of the Obama campaign until this story broke. Obama's wife has previously indicated her own less-than-patriotic streak by claiming that she's never in her life been proud to be an American, until now. There are lots of questions here, and no answers, and the Examiner seems content with the explanation that in 20 years of preaching and personal spiritual advising Obama wasn’t aware that Rev. Wright held these inflammatory, unpatriotic and divisive views. This explanation defies logic.

Senator Obama also shares a friendship with Bill Ayers, a former leader of the violent left-wing activist group the Weather Underground. This also recently made news. Although Mr. Ayers was never convicted of being a terrorist (due to technicalities with his case), as recently as 2001 he made the statement "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." According to Obama’s spokesman, the two share a friendship, that’s it. Still, I don’t have these kinds of friends, and I question the character of those who do.

Senator Obama’s ties to indicted Chicago businessman Antoin Rezko, which include an unscrupulous land deal and $250,000 in campaign donations, also raises questions as to the Senator’s moral and ethical compass.

So why is all of this relevant? Am I suggesting guilty by association? No. It's relevant because Obama is running on a campaign of judgment. Are we to believe that Obama's views differ greatly from his wife's, his pastor's, his campaign contributors and his friends? Or does that not pass the smell test? How many folks do you know who are basically good people, but who surround themselves with not-so-good people? It's a rare occurrence, indeed. At best, assuming that he is a good man who loves his country, his judgment appears to be horrendous. What kind of people would a President Obama put in his cabinet? Whom would he appoint to the judicial bench? At this point in time, none of us should have that warm and fuzzy feeling as to the answer to these questions.

I'm disappointed that the media has hence forth refused to cover this story adequately. This is a big story, blanketing the radio air waves and cable news outlets. I don't expect the Baltimore Sun to cover any story negative to Obama, but the Examiner prides itself on fair and accurate reporting. I have no doubt that some editors at the Baltimore Sun refuse to cover this story because one some level they agree with Rev. Wrights anti-American comments. Yet the Democrats are about to nominate a man whose likelihood of imploding is increasing on a daily basis. Like it or not, that’s news.
