Democrat's Must Not Hide Health Reform Legislation from the American People
O bama this week decried "those who would bend the truth or break it to score political points and stop our progress as a country." He accused the insurance industry of "filling the airwaves with deceptive and dishonest ads," sending money and lobbyists to Capitol Hill and paying for studies "designed to mislead the American people."
We're a little confused.
If the health care reform being promoted by the president and Congress is as benign as Obama states it is, couldn't he put all these "deceptive and misleading" ads to rest by simply posting the legislation on the internet for the American people to read?
If the reform is not as bad as the insurance industry states, then why do Pelosi and Reid continue to resist attempts by the American people to be able to view the legislation?
It doesn't add up. And as Judge Judy says, if it doesn't make sense it probably isn't true.
The fact that the Democrats continue to hide the legislation from the American people leads me to believe that it is them, and not the insurance industry, that are being misleading and deceptive.
And if we can get a little partisan for a moment, recall that Pelosi and Obama both lied when they promised transparency in government, just like Obama lied when he promised to reign in pork spending, lied when he promised to take the government funding option during the general election campaign, and lied when he said his administration would not employ lobbyists. So it's not exactly as if the Democrats in charge are weighing in for this fight with a whole lot of credibility behind them.
As far as we can tell, they're planning to ram through legislation equal to one-sixth of our national economy, using the "nuclear" political option, with virtually no Republican support, no ability by the people or the legislators to have time to read the legislation, and no mandate from the American people for the type of reform they're offering.
