Political Gamesmanship at HHS
We don't have an issue with Congressmen and Congresswomen flying around the country at taxpayer expense seeking re-election. That has always occurred in every election cycle regardless of which party is in power. Members of congress have an obligation to meet with and represent their constituents.
We do, however, have a problem with the media blitz of advertising being orchestrated by Health and Human Services, touting the purported benefits of the new health care legislation. This is a tremendous waste of taxpayer money, and speaks of unquestionable political gamesmanship two weeks before a mid-term election.
Despite all of the rancor regarding foreign donations that may or may not exist, what we find most objectionable this campaign cycle is that our broke government would spend boatloads of money touting this unpopular legislation before the economic impact is known, before any degradation in the quality of our health care system can be assessed, after some company's have announced increasing employee contributions directly related to the new legislation, and just weeks before an election.
That we will have to suffer this legislation is bad enough. That our children's money (let's face it, we no longer have any) is being used to promote this abomination is reprehensible.
