Obama Doesn't Make the Case for Cult Status Among Elites
The audacity of Senator's DeGrange and Beidle never ceases to amaze me.
Neither one of these Senators joined the Republican filibuster against O'Malley's illegal tax grab. Both Senator's went along with the tax package, whether they voted for it or not, and both Senator's now express outrage that a public official wanted to scrutinize their travel expenses. Well, since I'm the one paying for the travel, along with the other residents of this county, I too want to know how much of my money they spent on travel last year. The issue may seem petty to some, but since the above-mentioned Senators, along with their colleagues in the General Assembly, have found themselves unable to live within their means, I feel obligated to assist them.
When preparations for the illegal tax grab first started, we were told that there was a "structural deficit" in the state (read, unwilling to live within our means). Now, we find out that there's things being considered by the General Assembly that are useless, expensive and possibly even illegal. O'Malley and the General Assembly are currently devising a scheme to allow Maryland's illegal immigrant community (estimated at 250,000 people) to qualify for in-state tuition at public universities, to the tune of $8,000 per student per year. Is this why our taxes were raised? Is this the doomsday scenario the Democrats warned us about before instituting their illegal tax grab?
I want to know where the money is going. I want to know the spending history of anyone who didn't support the tax filibuster. Perhaps the Gazette editors can assist us in picking up where Ms. Reiber left off - scrutinizing the expenses of the elites in the General Assembly. Not just travel expenses, but all expenses. We need to know where the money is going, since the members of the General Assembly have proved themselves to be inept at money-handling.
