A Lesson Learned - Far Left Fringe Won't Dictate PolicyBy a vote of 90-6, the Senate approved an amendment that not only blocks supplemental funds from being used to close Guantanamo and move detainees to U.S. soil, but also orders that no existing funds be used toward that purpose. Ouch. I’m finding it a bit amusing to watch the Democrats twisting in the wind over the closure of Gitmo. Apparently, the party in power has just now realized that virtually no Americans outside the extreme political left favor transferring terrorists from Cuba to the continental U.S., for any reason. After all, isn’t this exactly why Bush created Gitmo in the first place? To handle those individuals so dangerous and devious that no other place on earth wanted to hold them? Once again, the Obama administration has learned the hard way that it is not his extremist left-wing supporters who will drive public discourse on issues of national security. And I suspect that this is not the last (nor was it the first) campaign promise that will be broken due to an infusion of reason, logic and reality. The fringe will remain the fringe now and forever, Editor - bethesite.com
