Barney Frank and Rewarding Incompetence

In what may best be described as the height of all arrogance, Rep. Barney Frank declared the huge bonuses paid to AIG executives as “rewarding incompetence”.

I disagree with the bonuses.

I disagree even more with Rep. Frank’s standing to make the statement.

This is the same Barney Frank who in 2003 tried to downplay the Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac financial crisis, and who obstructed the Bush Administration's efforts to apply additional regulation to the industry.

Barney Frank's many statements defending the practices of the large mortgage brokers were shameful, and will remain forever in the annuls of public record. Sadly, the Bush attempts at regulation never made it out of the Congress due to the incompetence, and inaction, of Frank and other leading Democrats and Republicans.

The re-election of Barney Frank is the epitome of rewarding incompetence. How dare he criticize AIG for being equally incompetent.
