Sheila Dixon's Misdeeds
L et's be clear. Ex-Baltimore mayor Sheila Dixon is a scoundrel, and the evidence for that
started long before she was caught stealing gift cards from poor people.
But the gift card theft is hardly the only aspersion Ms. Dixon has cast upon the poor of Baltimore
In fact, it's probably the least of it.
Ms. Dixon's failure to implement real school reform will have a devastating long-term impact on the poor
children of Baltimore.
Ms. Dixon's failure to reign in Baltimore's inept juries and prosecutors will continue to have a devastating long-term
impact on the poor children of Baltimore. Criminals are abundent, fear of prosecution is minimal, and there's little reason
to believe that any Dixon initiative of the last few years will have any real impact on crime in the city.
The fact is, Ms. Dixon's done little to better Baltimore's poor citizenry. What she gave Baltimore is more of the failed liberal
policies that have doomed this city, and particularly it's poor, for the last fifty years. Sadly, the one thing Ms. Dixon
got kicked out of office for, namely her pathetic theft of gift cards destined for the poorest citizens, is likely one of
the few Dixon initiatives that won't have a long-term devastating impact on the city.
