Control of U.S. Borders Sound Policy

With profound naiveté, one Baltimore Sun letter writer writes "It's not a crime to cross a river or arbitrary line in the middle of the desert. I welcome all peaceful and honest people to be my neighbors, regardless of where they were born or what imaginary lines they crossed to get here." So apparently the letter writer sees no threat in not knowing exactly who is crossing the imaginary border to our South. Whether it be Mother Theresa or Osama bin Laden is of no consequence. Or does the letter writer simply trust all those crossing our borders to be peaceful and honest? How ridiculous. As usual, we're fighting an enemy from within born of incomprehensible naiveté and obtuseness, and an enemy from the outside born of unimaginable hostility and religious fanaticism. It's a disastrous combination. The solution would be to replace the "imaginary" border to our South and North with the high quality technically advanced physical structure we've been promised by our Congress. Then, we can verify that all those entering our nation are in fact peaceful and honest, and hopefully have a somewhat better grip on reality that some of those already here.
