Liberal Self-Gratification
R ichard Corfield writes in the Baltimore Sun that "Those who oppose universal health care and also oppose a woman's right to choose "display a logical disconnect", in that they don't want to pay for a pregnant woman to have an abortion, nor do they want to pay for the abortion procedure to terminate the pregnancy.
I see it differently.
To us, the obvious disconnect is within the minds of those folks who claim to be standing up for women's rights by furthering the objectives of an industry that claims the lives of at least 500,000 girls each year.
What's becoming clear is a pattern among liberals in that the adults in that community feel it within their rights to gratify their own selfish desires at the expense of their children and other people's children. The most blatant example of this is their willingness to saddle America's children, grandchildren and yet to be born children with trillions of dollars in debt so they can bail out large corporations, get a tax break on a house and trade in their clunker for a shiny new vehicle, knowing all along that they won't be paying a dime for any of it.
The abortion issue is just the logical progression of a mindset that allows adults to do whatever they want, whenever they want, while passing all of the consequences along to another being. This has become the standard bearer for liberal ideology because at it's core it represents everything neo-liberals stand for: self-gratification, zero accountability and striving to take as much from other people, particularly children, as humanly possible.
